This lesson was written for PSP 9 but can be done in any other version of PSP.
This tutorial assumes you have a basic working knowledge of PSP.

Materials needed:

The tubes and images are provided in the zip file below.

I like to thank the makers of the tubes and images used in this tutorial.  Please leave all file names and watermarks in place in respect to the makers and original artists of these images.

 

Before we start:

Unzip your materials to a folder of your choice.  Open the tubes and images in your PSP program. Make a copy of them all and close originals. Minimize these images for now.

Step 1) Open a New Transparent Raster Image size 460 x 460 pixels. This is now your Main Image.

Step 2)  Click on Selection - Select All (CTRL-A)

Step 3) Restore image background.jpg. Click on Edit -Copy (CTRL-C).

Step 4) Go to your Main Image and click on Edit-Paste-Paste Into Selection. (CTRL-Shift-L).

Step 5) Click on Effects- Plug In-Filter Unlimited 2.0 with the following settings:

Step 6)  Selections-Select None (CTRL-D).

Step 7) Restore Tube1104_madhuri _8_08_sdt.psp. Click on Edit -Copy (CTRL-C).

Step 8) Go to your Main Image and click on Edit-Paste As A New Layer (CTRL-L). Resize this image by Clicking on Image-Resize with the following settings: Width/Height: 85%, Resample using: Bicubic, Resize all layers NOT checked. Move this image to the bottom right.  See image:

Step 9)  Restore Floral Stencil 02 - Ms Andy.psp. Click on Edit -Copy (CTRL-C).

Step 10)  Go to your Main Image and click on Edit-Paste As A New Layer (CTRL-L) and apply the Filters Unlimited Plug In Sepia to the image. Same settings as above. Move this tube to the upper left corner.  See image:

Step 11) Click on Layers-Duplicate and with your moving tool move this layer down.  See my finished sample..

Step 12)  Restore tailouana_divers91.psp. Click on Edit -Copy (CTRL-C).

Step 13)  Go to your Main Image and click on Edit-Paste As A New Layer (CTRL-L). Resize this image by Clicking on Image-Resize with the following settings: Width/Height: 85%, Resample using: Bicubic, Resize all layers NOT checked.  Repeat the resize 2 more times. 

Step 14) Now with your Lasso Tool (freehand selection) with the settings:  Selection Type:  Point to Point, Mode: Add (Shift), Feather: 0 (null), the rest of the settings left to default.  Select around the edges of the red rose.  See sample:

Step 15)  Click on Selections-Invert.

Step 16)  Click on Effects-Artistic Effects-Sepia Toning with the 'Amount to age' set to 80. See Image:

Note: For PSP X and later versions Sepia Toning be found under Effects-Photo Effects-Sepia Toning.

Step 17)  Click on Selections-Select None (CTRL-D).  Move this tube to bottom left.  See image:

Step 18)  Click on Layers-Merge-Merge All (Flatten)

Step 19) Click on Edit-Copy (CTRL-C)

Step 20) Click on Image-Add Borders:  Symmetric: Checked, Top/Left/Right/Bottom: 2, Color: #580f1b.

Step 21)  Add another Symmetric Border with Top/Left/Right/Bottom of 15 and in the color white (#FFFFFF).

Step 22) With your magic wand (default settings) select your white border. Go to Edit-Paste-Paste into Selection (CTRL-Shift-L).  This will copy the main image which you copied in step 19.

Step 23) Click on Effects-Reflection Effects-Pattern with the following settings.  See Image.

Step 24) Selections-Select None (CTRL-D)

Step 25)   Click on Image-Add Borders:  Symmetric: Checked, Top/Left/Right/Bottom:2, Color: #580f1b.

Step 26) Add a New Raster Layer and place your watermark. (Optional)

Step 27)  Merge your Layers again by Clicking on Layers-Merge-Merge All (flatten).

You can now Save your image by Clicking on File-Export-JPEG Optimizer and/or go on the the animation part of this lesson.

Step 28)  Please open your Animation Shop program and we will start with our Main Image in PSP.

Step 29)  Restore musicalNotes2.psp. In your Layer palette select the Layer: note 1 and click on Edit -Copy (CTRL-C).

Step 30)  Go to your Main Image and click on Edit-Paste-Paste As New Layer (CTRL-L).  Resize this image by Clicking on Image-Resize with the following settings: Width/Height: 85%, Resample using: Bicubic, Resize all layers NOT checked.  With your Mover Tool move this image to just above the red rose.

Step 31)  Rename this layer 'note1' by Clicking on Layers-Properties  and give it the name note1.  Leave the rest of the settings the same.  Click OK.

Step 32)  Edit-Copy Merged (CTRL-Shift-C). Now go to Animation Shop.  Edit-Paste-Paste as New Animation(CTRL-V). Go back to your PSP program.

Step 33) Go to your musicalNotes2.psp and in your Layer palette click on the note 2 layer.  Edit-Copy (CTRL-C).

Step 34)  Go to your Main Image and click on Edit-Paste-Paste As New Layer (CTRL-L).  Resize this image by Clicking on Image-Resize with the following settings: Width/Height: 85%, Resample using: Bicubic, Resize all layers NOT checked.  Move this image to just above note1 and to the left a little.

Step 35)  Rename this layer 'note2' by Clicking on Layers-Properties  and give it the name note2.  Leave the rest of the settings the same.  Click OK.

Step 36)  Edit-Copy Merged (CTRL-Shift-C). Now go to Animation Shop.  Edit-Paste-Paste After Current Frame(CTRL-Shift-L). Go back to your PSP program.

Step 37) In your Layer Palette select the layer note1 and duplicate this layer by Clicking on Layers-Duplicate. With your mover tool move this note image to above the second note and to the right of this note.  See Image.

Step 38) Edit-Copy Merged (CTRL-Shift-C). Now go to Animation Shop.  Edit-Paste-Paste After Current Frame(CTRL-Shift-L). Go back to your PSP program.

Step 39) With your Mover Tool move the bottom note on top of the top note and to the left of that note.

Step 40)  Edit-Copy Merged (CTRL-Shift-C). Now go to Animation Shop.  Edit-Paste-Paste After Current Frame(CTRL-Shift-L). Go back to your PSP program.

Step 41) With your Mover Tool again move the bottom note on top of the top note and to the right of that note.

Step 42)  Edit-Copy Merged (CTRL-Shift-C). Now go to Animation Shop.  Edit-Paste-Paste After Current Frame(CTRL-Shift-L). Go back to your PSP program.

Step 43)  Keep repeating steps 40 to 42 until your top note touches the bottom at the top border. See Image.

Step 44)  Edit-Copy Merged (CTRL-Shift-C). Now go to Animation Shop.  Edit-Paste-Paste After Current Frame(CTRL-Shift-L). Go back to your PSP program.

Step 45)  In your Main Image click on the bottom note and Click on Layers-Delete. ( If you get a pop-up window answer yes to it.)

Step 46)  Edit-Copy Merged (CTRL-Shift-C). Now go to Animation Shop.  Edit-Paste-Paste After Current Frame(CTRL-Shift-L). Go back to your PSP program.

Step 47)  Keep repeating Steps 46 and 47 until all notes are gone from the Main Image.

Step 48) Edit-Copy (CTRL-C) the Main Image with no notes on it. Go to Animation Shop.  Edit-Paste-Paste After Current Frame(CTRL-Shift-L).

We will stay in Animation Shop now for the final steps.

Step 49)  Click on Edit-Select All (CTRL-A).

Step 50) Click on Animation-Frame Properties and choose a Display time of 35. Click OK.

Step 51)  To preview your animation Click on View-Animation.  To stop your animation Click on View-Animation again.

Step 52)  To save your animation Click on File-Optimization Wizard (Shift-Z). Click on Next to the end.  Again Click on File-Save As and save your animation as a gif file.
