Butterflies

This lesson was written for PSP 9 but can be done in any other version of PSP.
This tutorial assumes you have a basic working knowledge of PSP.
Materials needed:
Font used: English111 Vivace or a font of your
own choice.
Filter used: Cybia Edgeworks and can be found and downloaded
from here.
The lady tube is from kTs but the other tube included
in the materials I do not know the maker
of. Should you recognize
these tubes as your own please let me know so I can give credit
where credit is due.
Mask used is my own creation.
The tubes and mask are provided in the
zip file below.

Before we start:
Unzip your materials to a folder of your choice. Place
your '!else49-2' mask in your Mask
Folder in My Documents-My PSP Files-Masks. Open the tubes
in your PSP program. Minimize these files
for now. Download and unzip the Cybia-Edgeworks filter
and place in your Plug-ins folder.
Step 1) Open a New Transparent Raster Image size
450 x 450 pixels. This is now your Main Image.
Step 2) Set your foreground colour
to a dark colour to match your tube, I used #5f2d2d. Set
your background colour to a light colour to match your tube,
I used #c9b4b4.
Step 3) Fill your Main Image with your dark
colour by Selecting your Fill Bucket Tool and Clicking on your
Main Image.
Step 4) Add a New Raster Layer
and fill this Layer with your light colour by again Selecting
your Fill Bucket Tool and
by RIGHT Clicking on your Main Image.
Step 5) Now load the !else49-2 Mask from Disk
by Clicking on Layers-Load/Save Mask-Load from Disk with Source
Luminance, Fit to Canvas, Invert transparency and Hide all mask
checked.

Step 6) Next Click on Layers-Merge-Merge All(flatten)
Step 7) We will now enhance the edges of our image
by Clicking on Effects-Edge Effects-Enhance.

Step 8) We are going to enhance the edges a bit
more by Clicking on Effects-Edge Effects-Enhance
More.
Step 9) To create the border around the image Click
on Selections-Select All. Next Click on Selections-Modify-Contract
by 20 pixels.

Step 10) Invert this Selection by Clicking on Selections-Invert
and you now have a selected 'border' around your image.

Step 11) Here we will apply our
Cybia Edgeworks Filter. Click
on Effects and find your Cybia Plug-In. Click
on Edgeworks and use the following settings. Make
sure you choose Bright in the drop-down menu. Click OK. Keep
border selected. You may have to adjust these settings
when using different colours.

Step 12) Next we will add some more effect to our
border. Click on Effects-Distortion Effects-Warp and use
the following settings:

Step 13) Again Click on Effects-Distortion
Effects-Warp and using the following settings:

You will notice the warp in the top of your border. Keep
the border selected as we are not done yet.
Step 14) We will now use the Chisel effect
on our image. Click
on Effects-3D Effects-Chisel and use the following settings:

Step 15) Now we can unselect our
border by Clicking on Selections-Select None or Ctrl-D
on your keyboard.
Step 16) Restore your lady tube(kTs_Wp129.psp)
and resize the tube by 75%. Resize again by 75% and resize again
by 75% See settings below.

Step 17) Click on Image-Mirror to mirror your
tube. Sharpen your tube by Clicking on Adjust-Sharpness-Sharpen.
Step 18) Next we are going to copy the tube to
place in our Main Image so Click on Edit-Copy.
Step 19) To activate your Main
Image Click on the top blue bar of your Main Image then Click
on Edit-Paste-Paste as a New Layer or use Ctrl-L on your keyboard
to place your lady tube.
Step 20) With your Mover Tool move
your lady tube to the bottom right inside corner of your Main
Image. See
below.

Step 21) Add a Drop Shadow to your lady tube by
Clicking on Effects-3D Effects-Drop Shadow with the following
settings:

Step 22) Now we are going
to add the butterflies to our Image. Restore your butterfly
tube (LaceButterfly_01Small_mm.psp) and resize this tube first
by 50% then again by 75% and resize once more by 75%.
Step 23) Copy your tube by Clicking
on Edit-Copy.
Activate your Main Image and Paste your Tube as a New Layer
by Clicking on Edit-Paste-Paste as a New Layer or use Ctrl-L on
your keyboard.
Step 24) Click on your Deformation
Tool or
press the letter D key to activate your Deformation tool. This
will allow you to move and rotate your butterfly on your image.

Place your first butterfly to where
I have placed mine. See finished image.

Step 25) Now go back to your butterfly
tube and resize it by 75% again. Copy and Paste as a New
Layer on your Main Image and again with your Deformation Tool oor
press the letter D key to activate your Deformation tool, move
and rotate this butterfly to place it to where I have it placed.
Step 26) Repeat Step 25
three more times so you will have 5 butterflies in total at the
end. Remember
to resize each time you make a 'new' butterfly for your Main
Image.
Step 27) Next we will be adding our text so
we have to set our fore- and background colours first. For
the Foreground colour I used #ecded7 and for the background colour
#f7f3f0.

Step 28) Click on your Text Tool and
use the following settings to add your text. Type in your
text of choice. Size may vary with different versions of
PSP so you may have to adjust the settings accordingly.

Step 29) Convert your text layer
to a Raster Layer by Clicking on Layers-Convert to Raster Layer. With
your Deformation Tool or
press the letter D key to activate your Deformation tool, rotate
and move your text to the right position.
Step 30) Add a Drop Shadow to your text by Clicking
on Effects-3D Effects-Drop Shadow with the following settings:

Step 31) Merge all layers and add a 2 pixel symmetrical black
border to your image by Clicking on Image-Add Borders with these
settings:

Step 32) Add a New Raster Layer and place your
watermark. Merge your Layers again by Clicking on Layers-Merge-Merge
All(flatten).
Step 33) Save your image by Clicking on File-Export-JPEG
Optimizer.
